After spending nearly a decade working as a thermal-mechanical engineer in big tech, I felt locked in an perpetual dance of consumerism. Constantly patenting and rushing designs to meet key revenue holidays, I felt burnt out while lacking substance in my career. In a pivot, my fiancé and I decided to open a wellness clinic in hopes of invigorating people’s lives in a holistic and meaningful way.  

Whole body cryotherapy was of course a critical modality; its effect being well known and impactful. But as we researched the available systems on the market, I was disappointed with the options. Presented with a clear challenge, I jumped at the complexity of designing my own cryotherapy system.  It was the only way to ensure the machine would have every feature we wanted as business owners: intelligence, efficiency, and adaptability.   

With my experience in product design and thermal mechanical engineering, I retrofitted my shop and got to work. Ethos, Artica System’s all electric whole body cryotherapy machine, is my magnum opus. A tasteful approach to an industrial design. I’m proud to say that Ethos has the smallest, smartest, and most efficient engine in the world.

I work every day at making this machine more effective for my own clients at Optimize U. Their life-changing therapeutic triumphs drive my passion. My wish is to empower you to do the same: provide the most consistent, comfortable, and safest whole body cryotherapy experience possible.

CO-FOUNDER

Growing up in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by the lush and vibrant agriculture that thrived in the area. With my father, Nick Tichinin, being the founder of Universal Seed LLC, it was only natural that I developed a deep passion for the world of farming and seed production.

After graduating from the University of Oregon, I eagerly joined my family's business and began working in various capacities for nearly a decade. It was during this time that I witnessed firsthand the power of a high-quality product and the impact it could have on the world market. Together, we transformed Universal Seed into one of the largest providers of specialty seed, and this experience helped shape my understanding of the importance of quality in everything we do.

Although I no longer work there full time, I remain an active member of the board of directors, helping to guide the company's overall direction with the knowledge and experience that I gained over the years.

After leaving the seed industry, I embarked on a journey to find my true passion and career path in life. Having overcome two fights with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in my teenage years, I had always been drawn to the healthcare field. It wasn't until I met my business partner and good friend, Evan Kuklinksi, that my passion for healthcare was reignited. Together, we founded Artica Systems, a company focused on providing high-quality, cutting-edge healthcare equipment to the general public.

After 20 years in corporate America, I started to experience burnout, pain, and chronic fatigue. Years of travel and compounding stress had taken their toll and my health started to rapidly decline.

It was on a business trip that I discovered Whole Body Cryotherapy. Always willing to try anything natural, I subjected myself to the coldest experience imaginable and after 3 minutes, I was hooked.

Since that day, I’ve dedicated countless hours to researching cold shock therapy and its applications. The results from regular treatments impacted my health so dramatically that it inspired me to bring the service home to my community in the form of a state-of-the-art Wellness Club. And it’s here that I’ve witnessed, by the hundreds, how Whole Body Cryotherapy improves lives.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

I recently transitioned from the financial industry, where I spent my career dedicated to project management, risk analysis, and end to end data analytics. I have a passion for efficient processes that focus on customer excellence, making sure you get maximum results with minimal effort.

I was first introduced to cryotherapy through Evan’s Optimize U location in Portland, and admittedly had my reservations about sub-freezing temperatures. Like many others on our team, my first session had me hooked. Working in regular weekly sessions has reduced my desk-ridden induced migraines and replaced a decade’s worth of ibuprofen bottles and heating pads!
